victims in the interior of Alaska and specifically in the village of Eagle.
According to
Wikipedia,
Eagle is located 8 miles west of the border of Alaska and the Yukon Territory of
Canada. Earlier in 2009, warm temperatures accelerated the spring thaw
which cause a huge flood that wiped
out
much of the village. The photo (upper right) shows the Yukon River in
summer. The photo (left) shows the ice and water flow during the flood.
Needless to say, the results were devastating to the town. Below are some
photos of some of the damage. One person who owned a cabin in Eagle told us that their place
was basically
"erased"
as water and ice sheared off houses and trees and everything in it's path.
When you hear about chunks of ice the size of houses smashing through town under
30 feet of water it's hard to believe. But when the water went down, the
evidence was there for the camera. WOW! Check out the photo to the
left! Imagine the devastating effect this flood had on the people who live
there.
HELP IS ON THE WAY!
Former governor
Sarah Palin was on site assessing the damage and preparing
to provide aid from the state to help the people of Eagle.
Franklin Graham of
Samaritan's Purse also visited Eagle and has begun the process of providing
tools for rebuilding homes there.

Our own LightShine staff worker, Rob Paire, went to Eagle as our representative. Because of Rob's skills, he was quickly put into leadership for rebuilding the town. CLICK HERE to see the work that Rob is doing.
Please CLICK on this button below to give towards our ministry as we need to purchase tools, vehicles, utility trailers, generators, etc. As we finish our new LightShine Ministry Base, our goal is to equip job site trailers with tools to respond quickly to physical needs of people.
