Carl & Eunice Ginder

I have served on disaster relief teams in years gone by - always down south in the summertime.   In 2008 one of my coworkers, Mel Miller, came back from a week in Alaska with LightShine Ministries with tales of the work they did, the people the ministered with and the things they saw.  I told him that if he ever went again I would like to go along.  Sure enough, the next year he said that he would be leading a team to Globe Creek Wilderness Bible Camp where he had served the year before but the team had another job the second week for those who could go for two weeks.  I signed up almost immediately.  I enjoyed the hard work, camaraderie, bible studies every morning but most of all I liked the fact that the work we were doing would have everlasting meaning for some of the children who would be attending camp at Globe Creek.

I have always enjoyed helping people.  Knowing that I could make a difference in someone's life by being obedient to God's call to serve is reward enough but I always come away with more than I gave.  Seeing the beauty of our largest state is icing on the cake.

In 2010 I was on the same trip as the year before only this time my wife, Eunice, went along too.  It was a double blessing to share this special time and place together.  We look forward to going back again.  We both are members of Manheim Brethren in Christ Church in Manheim, PA where we serve in various capacities.  Our children are grown and we are anticipating retirement in 2012.  We are hoping to have more time for mission ministry in the future.
