August 2008 Work Team

8/22 - 9/1, 2008

This team was made up of the following people:

Larry Newell (white shirt), Teri Newell (wife beside him), Lisa Hawbaker (pink shirt), Aaron Hawbaker (son in yellow), Jerry Polizzi (tan shirt in back), Dennis Schlossman (red shirt), Tom Denlinger (to the left) & Ryan Denlinger (beside him)

Thank you so much to those of you who sent and prayed for these team members.  They got a lot of work done at Kenny Lake Community Chapel, Strelna Lake Wilderness Bible Camp and Mountain Home Fellowship.  They also helped some local people who had their home devastated by a flood.  Here are some photos to show you what they accomplished.

This is the old sanctuary of Kenny Lake Community Chapel.  The church now uses this room for their youth ministry but the walls were made only of 2X4 construction.  Because the temperatures can get 40 - 50 degrees below zero in Kenny Lake, they obviously needed to be insulated.  So our team applied 2X2 furring strips, 2" blue foam and then drywall over top.  Click on a thumbnail to enlarge the photo:

Teri Newell and Lisa Hawbaker also did some painting (above left)

After we finished working at Kenny Lake Community Chapel we were able to help a couple who were rebuilding after a flood destroyed their home.  We installed a metal roof for them.

And just when we finished, it started to rain!  God is good!

After this job we spent the rest of the week working at Strelna Lake Wilderness Bible Camp doing cleanup, cutting firewood, etc.  Here are a couple parting photos of the hike (in the rain) to camp, fishing for our evening meals (fresh rainbow trout) and some beautiful scenery to end the week.

A beautiful end to a week of hard work!
